The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a forum of 21 member economies, facilitates economic growth and trade in the Asia-Pacific region. The APEC Intellectual Property Rights Experts' Group (IPEG) coordinates and undertakes the work related to intellectual property rights.

APEC also encourages its members to create intellectual property rights service centers to provide information about protection of intellectual property rights.

In 2011, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) launched its Intellectual Property Explorer, a free, secure, and simple online business tool to help SMEs identify and protect their IP assets. It contains a series of interactive diagnostic questions designed to review each piece of intellectual property in an SME's business. The tool was developed by the Governments of Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Click the icon above to access the IP Explorer.
